FINE SCHEDULE 18th District Court 36675 Ford Road   Westland, Michigan  48185 (734) 595-8720     Fax: (734) 595-0160 www.18thdistrictcourt.com     Please Read: Proper Attire.  You will not be allowed to enter the Court without proper attire and shoes.  Shorts, tank/tube tops, bare midriffs, etc., not allowed! Mandatory Court Appearances.  Arraignments/mandatory appearances on certain violations are held Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.  You will not be seen by a judge or magistrate unless you are properly attired. Young children are not allowed in courtrooms or the probation department.  Parents are discouraged from bringing children to court. Failure to respond to the citation in the prescribed manner will result in a default fee being assessed; suspension of your driving privileges (reinstatement fee required); garnishment of your state income tax refund or other assets by the State Treasury; a 20% late fee being assessed if the fine is 56 days overdue; and the issuance of a warrant for your arrest. HOW TO PROCEED ONCE YOU'VE RECEIVED A CITATION: To Admit Responsibility.  If you wish to plead guilty or admit responsibility and pay your fines and costs, determine the amount owed by checking the list of common violations listed below.  After you have determined the correct amount owed, sign the back of the ticket where appropriate; make a check or money order payable to the 18th District Court (do not mail cash).   Be sure to write the ticket number on your check/money order. Paying in Person.  You may pay in person by visiting a cashier at the Court's Violation Bureau.  Alternatively you may mail the check/money order with your copy of the ticket to the Court at: 36675 Ford Road, Westland, MI  48185.  For your convenience, the 18th District Court also has an after-hours deposit box located near the front of the courthouse.  Starter checks or out-of-state checks and loose coins are not accepted.  Violation Bureau / Cashier Hours: Monday through Friday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Electronic Payments.  Credit card payments for traffic/criminal fines and costs are accepted via the Internet or by telephone (click on the "Credit Card Payments" button at the top of this page to view instructions). This fine schedule only applies to those violations paid to the Violation Bureau on/before the appearance/hearing date listed on the ticket.  It does not apply to cases to be heard in court.  Answer the Citation.  To respond to this citation in court, appear at the date and time specified on the front of the ticket.  If a specific date/time is not listed or if the violation you have been cited for is not listed below, please call the Court at (734) 595-8720.  OTHER INFORMATION: State Legislation.  A portion of each fine is collected as a result of state legislation and is transmitted directly to the State Treasury.   Increases to this schedule are a result of State legislation. Michigan Court Rule 1.110 provides that "Fines and costs must be paid at time of assessment".
